My First Job is an organization the was started to assist students looking to enter the workforce match up to valuable employers. Included in the site is a preview of how the My First Job can assist employers find quality entry level help, teachers to prepare students, and parents to assist their children. Additionally, they’ve developed 60 soft skills for career success. Overall, it’s a great organization with a fantastic mission that helps young adults in all sorts of practical ways.
Inspiration From Youth
The primary audience for My First Job is teenagers preparing for the workplace so it was important that the design didn’t feel too cold or corporate. When developing the design style I pulled inspiration from all aspects of my own teenage years. Extracting the classic cow print journal cover pattern, I made tiling backgrounds which we could use throughout the site to add some personality to portraits. Other Aspects of the UI take on the form of some of these blast from the past. Call to actions inside a pencil box, Important text embedded in flash cards–all create a fun inviting experience for site users.
